From now until July 24th:

Bartenders interested in competing will be looking to meet with their reps and get samples. We’ll leave those interactions to you.

If your gin, bourbon, or rye whiskey brand is interested in finding competitors to use your product, please email:

rickey.dcbg@gmail.com

with the specific products you’d like to offer as options. We will provide your email in order for these bartenders to contact you.

This email will also be the preferred method of communication for this event.

On July 24th at 11:59PM, the window to submit drinks closes.

We will then take those submissions and ensure that they meet the basic criteria (appropriate spirit, citric fluid, carbonated beverage).

The guild will then schedule the competitors for their preliminary competition time on 7/29 and 7/30.

Competitors that make it to the finals on August 4

The preliminary round judges will advance 8 competitors into the finals in the next week.

At this point, the guild will reach out to suppliers and brand contact to confirm a $500 financial sponsorship and 9 liters of product to produce cocktails for the competition.

Financial sponsorship is directly tied to costs related to venue, staffing, and glassware rental.

It is possible to have more than one finalist per brand. The financial sponsorship amount is per finalist.

Competition Day

On August 4, the competitors will be asked to bring another person to help with drink service.

Sponsors for the finalists will be provided 2 complimentary tickets.

During the competition, the finalists will serve their cocktail to guests who have purchased a ticket to the event. Guests will have 2 tokens with which they can vote for their favorite Rickey. This vote will determine the winner of the People’s Choice.

The competitors will take turns going to the judges’ room and presenting their cocktail.

The judges will evaluate the drinks based on the provided criteria and select a first and second place winner.
